This is a mod that I done as to use a long cross slide and screw. A lot of people only use the long slide and standard screw. But I wanted to use it for milling and fly cutting. So you need to drill out the back of the saddle to accommodate the long feed screw which gives me 8.5" (215mm) Travel.

 

I marked out the back of the saddle and drilled a 5mm pilot hole, Then from the front using the feed screw nut hole as a guild drilled with a 12.5mm drill.

As with the drill i had to extend there lenghts using a bit of copper tubing lighty hammered on to the tung of a number1 12.7 mm morse taper reamer i finised the hole to the correct size.
